How do I learn to read Braille?
8 Easy Steps:
1. Learn the positions of the 6 dots in a Braille cell. Knowing where the dots go as well as the empty spaces is extremely important in learning to read Braille.
2. Learn the letters A-J first; these letters use only the top 4 dots of the 6 in the cell.
3. Learn the next ten letters K-T; these are the exact same as A-J except the third dot is different.
4. Learn the cells for U, V, X, Y, and Z. These are the same as letters A through E, except they have an extra dot in positions 3 and 6.
5. Learn W, which does not follow the pattern. W is out of order because Braille was written originally in French, which at that time did not contain the letter W
6. Learn the Braille punctuation and special symbols.
7. Learn the common word contrctions
8. Practice, Practice, Practice
